Grant was made

by Sir Henry Pottinger, Governor of

Hong Kong, of some lots of

of money in Cutting down and

levelling the ground; and had made considerable progress in erecting buildings upon it, when

he was in consequence of sickness obliged to leave the Island. On his departure

he left written instructions with the late Mr. Shuck to dispose of the lots, and

buildings thereon, in the state in which they stood;
